Nowadays, our work is focused on the study of cellular senescence, a fascinating phenomenon involved in inflammation and tumorigenesis, which has been described in vertebrate cells.
We have recently found that Drosophila senescent cells possess the same features as those of vertebrates. We are making full use of the sophisticated Drosophila genetic technology to describe the genetic modifications of senescent cells and their interactions with surrounding cells.
