IUBM cloister meetin on June 30th.

We celebrated our Annual Meeting last Tuesday, during which we welcomed two new members, Miguel Muñoz Ruiz and David Foronda.

We also confirmed Dr. Iñigo Lasa as a new member of our External Advisory Committee, succeeding María Molina. We are grateful to María for her valuable advice and support over the years and look forward to Dr. Lasa’s contributions to the committee.

Eduardo Balsa granted by the AECC. Congrats!

The Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) recently held the award ceremony for its 2025 AECC Research Grants. Among this year’s recipients is Eduardo Balsa, who has been awarded a LAB AECC 2025 Grant for his project, “Uncovering the Impact of Aging-Induced Metabolic Alterations in Microglia that License Brain Metastasis Progression.”

His research aims to investigate how age-related metabolic changes in microglia—the resident immune cells of the brain—may contribute to the progression of brain metastases. By elucidating the mechanisms linking aging, microglial metabolism, and metastatic growth, the project seeks to advance our understanding of brain metastasis and identify potential therapeutic opportunities.
